helping hands weekend 2008: may 9-118
"The fun is in the work!"

Helping Hands Holiday is your chance to invest in the present and future ministry of Thousand Pines by putting in a little "sweat equity." It is also a great time to teach kids how much fun work can be.

With many tasks to fulfill, especially in preparation for the summer season, the Thousand Pines staff simply cannot finish them all. So, for over forty years friends of the ministry have pitched in and helped. It's a bit of a "mission trip experience" for families that results in a great feeling of accomplishment and service.

Is there a cost? There is a minimal registration fee of $23 per person to help defray the administrative cost and secure commitments for meals and project planning. We don't want you to miss any of the great times we're planning for the entire weekend, but if you can only come Saturday, fine. We still ask that you sign up and pay the $23 registration fee.

What if we have small children? No problem, we plan to have childcare for ages 0-6 during the project assignments.

What will we be doing? There are many things to be done, but here's what we need help with:
¥ Raking- as we prepare for the June 1 fire inspection, this is always a priority.
¥ Firewood- cutting, splitting, stacking.
¥ Painting- exterior and interior.
¥ Planting- preparing flower beds and planting flowers.
¥ Cleaning- time for some of those once-a-year projects such as cleaning windows, furniture repairs, etc...
¥ Clearing- trimming back the spring growth around the paintball course.
¥ Child Care- we'll need a couple of folk to help look after the young'uns during project time.

If you have a specialty or preference that is not listed, contact Thousand Pines. We'll see if we can match your gift to our needs. We've had electricians, plumbers, roofers, and general contractors help out on job specific projects.

Great, what do I bring? Easy, bring yourself, your personal toiletries, bed linens, and the anticipation of a great time of sharing and fellowship. Other possible items to bring include work gloves, chainsaws, painting equipment, pick-up trucks, tractors, or other specialized equipment.
